What's involved in removing the closing rocker pivot shafts?

I just found this:

in here:

I guess that explains the loud tappety noise that started last Thursday...

I suspect it got stuck somewhere it shouldn't have, I've now got a 24 thou closer clearance. It was dark and cold in my garage, so I didn't examine everything super carefully, but I didn't see any obvious signs of brokenness - I'm _hoping_ it's non-destructively bent the closing rocker arm, and if I re-shim it it'll all "just work"...

Pull the cam cap opposite the pulley, then use a 5mm threaded tool to pull 'em out.

I use a 4-valve throttle link rod with a couple washers and a nut, and a socket as a pull to remove 'em.

It's fun putting the closers back in with the springs.  :P

I guess this is where most of that 24 thou closer clearance came from:

(click to embiggen...)

It's due for a 20,000km (actually, a 280,000km) service in ~6 weeks worth of riding. I think I might need to do a _proper_ job and replace all 4 pairs of my half-billion-cycle old half rings... Fr now I'm just gonna try buttoning it back up and riding it until I go on holiday in 3 weeks and deal with it when I get home in September...

Ziptie the springs tight so all parts can be mounted, then just clip it apart.
Works pretty good IMHO.  ;)
