PCIII not fitting between battery and tank!

So I installed a PCIII on my 06 620 and in the photos they show it sitting on the battery by the airbox. BUT when I put it there the tank won't come down all the way. I did find one spot that if it is just right the tank will come down but I'm worried about weight sitting on the unit. Does anyone have a trick for me to make this fit? Also can I seal up the TPS sensor tap with some clear silicone to make sure that water stays out of there?

Thanks for any feedback.

Put it a little more forward towards the front of your bike on top of the battery should just fit.  If you center it on the battery, the tank will not go down.  Just installed mine on a 03 Monster 800, had the same problem originally.  Hopefully it is the same for an '06.

TPS use water dielectric grease on the connection. I think that is what the stuff is called.  :-\

Thanks Chad,
I found that it was not going down with it in the front of the battery but it did go down if it was in the back, behind the battery strap. When you got it to fit do you feel like there is any room between the PC and the tanks or do you think it is pressed up against the tank? As for the connector I added the deilectric grease but the connection still made me nervous. But I guess if I silicone it and miss a crack I could have water trapped in there.

More importantly! How do you like your PC? Is the bike running well? Did you get a custom map made?

Thanks again,
Kevin

Do you have a plastic tank?
Did you have your tank already replaced under warranty? (because of tank warping)
If so the new tanks will not allow you to put the PC on top of the battery. :(
I had to move mine on top of my airbox that has the top cut off. I suspended it with zipties above the filter.
You can also put in on the left hand side of the battery or airbox.  Somewhere in there.  You can see it a little bit when it is there.

The PC3 wouldn't fit under my tank either.  Instruction stated to put it under the side panel.  I ended up moving it under the seat as i don't use the side panels anymore...

Have not completed a custom map yet.  Grabbed one of the net.  had open air box and slip-ons.  Had it on the dyno but the sniffer/oxygen sensor he had was not correct for v-twins.  Apparently too far from the engine.  He just got a new one so I will get it done in the next week or so.  Does your PCIII have a disconnect on it, wiring is hard wired into it.  Mine does not.  Sure would be nice to be able to disconnect from the bike in case a guy does not have a laptop.

Well it makes me feel better that others had problems with this. I was really looking forward to getting it all wrapped up and test riding last night and instead spend almost an hour trying different way to fit that under the tank. In the process spilt some fuel tipping the tank back too far. I hadn't thought about on the airbox frame or under the seat I was trying different spots around the battery (on the side, on top sideway, under the battery, etc). If I could get it to fit on top of the battery but I feel like there is some weight on it from the tank do you think that would damage the unit?

Also how did your bikes run after the PCIII and did you need custom maps?

I'm very curious how the bike is going to run. Hopefully I can get everything set tonight and test ride it. I opened the airbox and installed the PC with a map from the site. I also did a 14 tooth with new chain. I hope I'm happy with the way it runs I really was hoping to do this upgrade without having to pay for a custom map.

Not sure about the weight on the unit.  I have a metal tank and actually has foam liner under it.  Has not been a problem.  Runs fine with the map on the net, I went down one in the front and up two in the back, love the gearing.  I also had to split my wire harness into two (2) sections of wires to run my wires.

That is good to hear. Hopefully it will ride as well as I hope it does. I know that It isn't going to make much more power but I'm hoping it makes it even more fun to ride. I don't have a laptop ether I wonder if you could get a 6 pin plug and put a disconnect plug by the unit so if you had to pull it off you could just disconnect the plug and negative lead.

Something like this might work. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MSD-8170/?rtype=10

Oh and becareful removing the stock connectors, they have a metal locking clip that is a real pain in the a... to get off and is kinda spring loaded.  Almost lost mine trying to get if off.  Ended up using a real small screw driver - like the ones for eye glass repair to get under it to pry it off.

Not the type of question that's going to help regardless of the answer.  All bikes are different, conditions are never the same, and all techs are different.

Mine ran good with the first custom map, but still had the flat spot @ 5.5K. After it was remapped a second time with more mods, got a few more hp/tq, and the flat spot is gone.  See, doesn't really help does it.  [cheeky]

Never tried a downloaded map.

Thanks Chad, I ended up using a curved pick. I hooked the end of the clip and pulled it off. My new problem is if I have to move it too far to get it to fit well I have to disconnect everything.

DarkStar, you're right it doesn't REALLY help my setup but it is good to hear you're happy with the bike after the PCIII was installed.

Hoping to test ride tonight or tomorrow morning. I will report back.
