I have a DP carbon fiber front chain guard that has never fit right.  I trimmed it a bit and it still rubs the chain.   Angry  I think I'll remove it one of these days.

I've got the same problem, just thought it was good old DP carbon... bang head

Has any body tried one of Shift-Tech's carbon front chain guards... Huh?

hex to remove the guard

and yes, 98% of the sling goes there

the other 2% will go on your leg.

laughingdp  Well, I haven't cleaned the underside of my front chain guard in 40,000 miles and there's exactly zero chain lube under there.  YMMV

that's interesting, what do you use to lube your chain?

mine looks like a pelican off the Louisiana coast

laughingdp laughingdp  I use Chain Wax.  I get a little fling on the rear wheel, but the majority ends up around the drive sprocket (and down onto the rear-set bracket).

I follow Ca-Cyclworks Chris' advice: lube (Chain Wax) a warm chain, let sit a few seconds and wipe off the excess.  This will lube and clean the chain at the same time.

Also, I have a Scottoiler* on my Bandit that uses 80-90 wt gear oil and I have NO chain guard and I get no fling on my leg (or any other body part).   Grin

*I have the eSystem (e for electronic) which is accelerometer-equipped and only oils the chain after the bike is in motion.  It works beautifully:  I haven't adjusted my chain in over 8000 miles, and I've only wiped off the excess oil/dirt 2 or 3 times!!

I'd like to change it to one that lookes better though, but if it make contact with the inside of my heel, it can't be CF.  Amuminuim sure, but that's not too common.

desmo times has this

FWIW my bike came without a cover and I havent noticed any chain lube fling on my clothes at all (the inner wall of the sprocket insert is a total mess though.)

also never had a toe sucked in or a boot rubbed by the spinning sprocket.
