I just had new springs put in my forks. 01 M900Sie. Since I got it back there seems to be pretty much no dampening. I don't know much about adjusting the forks, but the tech told me he set them at 8 clicks either way. I don't notice anythign wierd on my 5 mile ride home. But since then when I push donwn on my bike, it pops right back up and bounces a bit. My brother thinks that they may have not put oil in. I want to be 100% sure either way before I go back to them, as I don't really trust them.

So basically can i easily check that there is oil in them? Can I just pop the top nut off and look in? They are the adjustable Showas.

Any help here is greatly appreciated. [thumbsup]

If damping was effective before the tech worked on the bike and no longer is it is the shop's responsibility.  They need to find out why, not you.

bring it back to the shop. its not likely though entirely possible that theres no fork oil in it. you would be able to tell the difference. It would easier to push teh fork down and it would spring up faster than usual.

though imma have to go with howie, its the shops job to setup the suspension after installing the springs and if it feels unsual, then they should help you with tuning it.

if you really wanted to check though, yes yuo just pop the cap off and put a dipstick in through one of the holes in teh side of the preload spacer since you cant really see much just by looking down the fork tube.

do this : close the adjusters all the way and check it, if there's a difference there's damping.
did you install heavier or lighter springs?

DaFoose

heavier springs were installed

Heavier springs will require increased rebound damping.
