hi guys im fitting a fancy timing belt cover (rizoma)  that i won on ebay to a to a ducati 696 it has no instructions because its second hand do i need to remove the right petrol/gas tank skin or tank as a complete piece to remove the top section (left part of the timing cover as you look at it from the side) or am i doing something wrong here?  I have loosened and removed all the allen key bolts and dropped the larger bottom plastic out but the top plastic is just too tight to wiggle out and remove and im being lazy not wanting to take the tank off unless i have to ? not a biggy to remove but it did take a little longer than i anticipated...i thought this would be a unbolt remove and slide in a bolt up type job ?

Thanks for any help with this i guess anyone thats performed this mod will know the answer straight away

for reference im talking about the top part of this cover

i had a rough time with mine on the s2r. basically, it only come out one way. go out and take a look at it and see if you can see any kind of route that would be easier and play with it a bit.

unless of course the newer style has an actual trick to it.

you have to take the skin off the side at the very least, but you have to jam it in there. SO to keep those nice and shiny
remove the tank, or just take it off the mounts and shift it left on the bike.

it's easy to do
let me know if you need instructions

I installed mine onto my 696 without removing the tank skins. Removed bottom cover first, then the top one. Sure, it took some time and patience to get it in there, but I was able to do it without removing the tank skins and/or scratching up the cover.

theres a joke there somewhere  ;D

i took the right skin off the gas / petrol tank then took the bottom timing cover section off
then i removed the top section of the timing cover i re fitted in reverse thanks guys for your answers anyway

i think the skin being off helped me because im kag handed (clumsy as F***)
the more breathing space i have the better especially with a timing belt cover like the rizoma one if that
had of hit the floor i might have had to disguise crying by poking myself in the eye

thanks again everyone

for your viewing pleasure and anyone who doesn't know what we are on about (sorry for bad phone pic)
