Looking for a new tank for my '99 M750 which is the take that has two side latches to connect it to the frame not the single long latch if that makes sense. The confusion comes in here, I found a S4R tank with the same set up but where the gas cape goes is a huge hole. What kind of gas cap would I need and will this fit a '99 M750.

That is the same cap/bung as on your tank, but I don't believe that tank will fit your frame.

It will be somewhat expensive to make that tank work with your bike, it's an FI tank and your bike is carb'd. If you want a direct swap you should be looking for a 2001 and earlier 750 tank or a 2000 and earlier 900 tank, those are both carb'd bikes.

What latches are you talking about on your bike? As far as I know the tank latch that connects the tank to the frame(which is closest to the seat on the underside of the tank) is the same on all monsters. At least through 2009. Can you get pics of yours?

Again, you can make it work but IMHO it's not worth the cost. Plus, a lot of the newer plastic tanks are having "swelling" problems. You may have to buy something slightly dinged and have it repaired. What's wrong with your current tank by the way?

The 695 tank is plastic...you don't want that

The S4R tank is steel.

Why not fix your old tank?

Spent a lot of money trying to recoat and then the rust went threw again and after that I guess the welding is crapping out and I get a drip now.

I really just need a new tank. Any suggestions. I have some money to spend to do the job right. How much would a new tank mod fit run me? Any links to older tanks would be much appreciated .

I found a picture of the difference in latches btw. It was in the other thread.

There are 2 steel tanks for sale on the forum.

They are both off FI bikes, but it could be done fairly cheaply.
