Starter problem?

I feel like I have endless problems with my bike due to lack of use.  I love my monster, but rarely get to ride it, and it lives outside as I live in an apartment building without a garage.

Details: 2000 Ducati Monster 750

Background: Battery is 1 year old, but was left in the bike outside over a harsh winter.

Issue: I charged the bike overnight and the starter turns VERY slowly then stops turning then makes that ticking noise.  I checked the connections, they were rusty.  I cleaned all connections and charged again overnight.  Again, the starter turns VERY slowly then stops turning then makes that ticking noise.

I connected it to my car battery and it started up without hesitation.

So, it seams clear to me that there isn't enough juice getting to the starter.  But, the battery is only 1 year old (approx 11 months).  Do I really need another new battery already?  What else could this be or what else might I want to try doing before spending the money on a new battery?

when you successfully jump from auto battery are you grounding the Duc on the Neg battery or
on an 'frame' ground?

If jumping directly to + / - lugs on batt, juice is getting to starter from there, sounds like battery time.
I'd get a trickle charger ($30)  for this or next battery.

First though I'd jump it, get on and ride thru a tank of gas, park it at home, see if it restarts.

If the battery was not charged all winter it is more than likely toast.  To be sure, charge it and get it load tested at a shop.

+2 on the battery and you know like, tech section, man  ;)
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

Ya.  My bad.  Not only did I post in the wrong place, but I post and don't even stick around for the feedback.  My bad.

Ya.  Thought it was battery.  But, was hoping there could be something else I wasn't thinking of.  Sucks to have to buy a new battery again.  But, will def charge then have load tested before coughing up the $$$ just to be sure
