Hello Tech team,

Ducati Monster shut off in traffic and couldn't start today. The dials doesn't move when keys on and headlights not coming on. Do this sound like the battery gone or immobilize need original key needed to start up. I had to leave it and take the cab home but will be going back out to get it.

What can the issue be. The immobilize light still blinks but no other lights work on the bike.

Thanks

Spidey

Did you check the fuse box?  It's easily accessible and you can visually determine if any of the fuses blew.  That's where I'd start.

Would have to check it in the morning getting dark over here in New York now. I went to cover it up and tried the red key but still nothing shuts on only the immobilize light blinking.  I was thinking if the battery was dead the immobilize light wouldn't work so it's probably not the battery. I going to check fuses tomorrow but do you no in particular what fuse to look for and location.

Thanks again.

What year and model of Monster is it?

Perhaps the big fuse, there's a 35A or so, location varies by bike.

2002 Ducati Monster 620 ie. Also I notice the immobilize light color is yellow. What does that mean

Bones

light is supposed to be yellow; it's only one color. if the light stays on then that sounds like an immobilizer problem.

I think your problem may be fuse, battery or maybe even the wiring harness may even be loose behind the gauges. are you in manhattan?

Yes, I live really close to Manhattan near 3rd ave bridge. I just been down stairs to check out the fuses and battery they all seem to be looking good. Battery perk a 13v fuses doesn't look broken but going to Auto zone to pick up some fresh one's in a sec. The strange thing is nothing works on the bike the horn, light, and no click when I turn key to on. Seem to be dead. All I remember was I was at the stop light i had kick into neutral but the bike just lost power at the moment nothing response just total shut down mood.

I'm confused but still trying to trouble shoot this issue. What can be the cause of total shut down. I'm thinking it's the immobilizer but nothing would be able to work if this is the case?

Bones

the gauges would still sweep and lights/horn/blinkers would still work even if there was an immobilizer problem.  sounds like you blew a fuse or have a loose wire. check harness connections and fuses.

Latest updates,

I changed the Main, Fuel system, Ignition, and circuit fuse fuses and nothing happen. I did notice when I put the Main fuse in I seen a little spark from the main fuse location. The circuit fuse 40amp I brought one of those fuses with the mini led indicator on top but didn't see the led light up when I connected it (Strange).  I tried checking for loose harness connections but no dice. I have no choose now but to take it in tomorrow to a mechanic.

I will keep you guy's posted but any other solutions would be great.

Had the same problem, ended up being my 15amp fuse (turquoise one). I inspected my fuses and at first didn't see it, they can be tricky even when you are looking for the right thing.

I had the same problem on my Monster 696. One fuse was blown and a change didn't help so I removed the tank and checked all of the connections which seemed OK visually, but after a check on all of them it started working again.

Year and model of bike would help.  Have you tried jumping with a known good battery?

Funny you said that location, I just dropped my bike off at Master Cycle. The battery was check and perk at 13V when I was trying to find the issue yesterday. Hopefully these guy's can trouble this issue with no problems. Heard good things about them. Its a 2002 Monster 620

I'll keep you guy's posted once I get word back.

Thanks fellas

Ok fellas, here is the verdict just got my bike back from the mechanic shop yesterday. The issue was relay and burnt wires. Basically the bike had bad wiring. The mechanics on 3 Bruckner Boulevard did a good job. Before my bike use to stall a lot on start up and while riding long period of time. That issue fixed. The bike feel like it has more power now. Almost did an accidentally wheelie today  [clap] Now the fee to get this repaired $450  [bang] the price you pay to ride in style  [moto]. Now I'm looking into changing sprocket and chain myself maybe my next post.

Thanks to all your help, this issue is now close  [beer]
