For the project bike:

I have 1198 Forks (they are radial-brake mount, obviously).

I have 1198 Axle and Nut.

I have 998 Wheel (which I intend to use, somehow)

What I know:

* Need 15mm offset rotors, 6 bolt (a la 998R), or 10mm offset, 6 bolt rotors and 5mm spacers

Where I need help:
* Need some spacers for left and right side of wheel on axle to keep wheel in middle. I've read that people have modified 848/1198 wheel spacers (LH/RH) to work by removing/adding material (~0.5mm).

I've done some web searching, but am coming up with a lack of information on the dimensions of the ideal spacers. If I can figure this out, I can commission a machine shop to make me some nice, correct, precise alu or ti spacers. (Ideal solution).

On my Monster I ended up using the 1098 axle AND nut (it's different than the monster one), one spacer from the Monster and one from the 1098.
I used my stock Monster wheel with 15mm 6-bolt rotors from Braking.
everything lined up perfect.

the reason i used the 15mm 6-bolt instead of 10mm with spacers is teh hubcentric design of the rotors. The guy I was working with was concerned about safety, and as I remember back to my Fiat days, hubcentric is critical to alignment and load bearing. So, I searched for an finally found the Braking rotors.

I see.... one of the concerns with the 748/996 wheel is the speedometer pickup cutout in the wheel.

I was looking at the 15mm offset / 6 bolt rotors from braketech and the brembo hp series (for the 998R)

Since you have to buy rotors anyway...

Sell 998 wheel, buy 999/848/1098 wheel and buy stock/matching rotors.

they don't make a 5 spoke bst that's for the 1198...

If you are using a 5 spoke 998 wheel, it isn't going to match a 1198 anyway....those spokes are fan'd out a bit.

I know BST makes a 5 spoke front that will work on a hyper/s4rs/848/1098....I just mounted a tire up on it (along with some CMC rotors) for my monster.

I'm saying BST makes a 5 spoke wheel for 5 bolt rotor fitment, which is the right size you need.  I know cause I just got done mounting it up on the monster (with 1098 forks...which are the same as 1198 forks).

oh. i did not know this - i thought they only made a 7 spoke

have a link?
