Bought a '99 M750 from another DMF member 2 months ago today. Picked it up on a Sunday, seller said he'd go to the bank on Mon AM and take care of the title. Here I am 2 months later and I don't have a title in hand yet.

It took about 4-5 weeks to get my truck title when I paid it off, but 2 months seems like a really long time. Especially since I can't ride the damn bike till I get the title. Is it normal for it to take this long to get a title from the bank?

The simple answer is no, it shouldn't take this long. That being said.....

I have had several issue here in Massachusetts with Ducati titles. I waited 3 months for one once because for some reason they have trouble with the european bikes/titles.

Also, the bank that held the title could have held it in two ways.

1. Paper title. This is where the bank actuallly has the title in a file in their main office. If this is the case then once the bike was paid off they should have mailed it right to the person you bought it from or they could have handed it to them if they showed up at the branch and paid it off in cash.

2. Electronic title. This is when the bank doesn't have the physical title in their possession. Once the loan is paid off, the lender sends an electronic release the the DMV and then they print the title and send it to the owner. It seems more and more banks are going to this style. Either way, I would call the previous owner and ask what the situation is.
I've been wallowing in my own chaotic and insecure delusions.
