Help! Front axle not coming out

When you say right and left...

are you sitting on the bike or standing in front of it?

Talking as if I'm riding, but everything is all taken care of now, crisis averted.  Apparently I just to torque it until the bike lifts off the ground, then jump around a little bit more and bounce it, then it will break free.  Same for the rear axle...

But thanks for the help guys, I'm sure this wont be the last time I ask something relatively stupid... like maybe when I put the wheels back on tomorrow night
