Odd clutch wear

A few days ago I noticed serious clutch slipping at freeway speeds. I'd gotten this before when my plates were totally worn out so I just ordered a new clutch pack w/o thinking about it.

So I got my plates today and noticed some weird wear when I swapped out my plates. The old pack was Barnettes and the first 2 frictions closest to the pressure plate were totally shot and had no material left at all. Both them and the steels they touch were scarred up like someone took a file to them. BUT the rest of the frictions and steels looked fine. They actually didn't look all that worn either.

I can't recall if this was an old pack that I took out early and then threw back in or whether it was a fresh pack that I haven't opened until now. It's just really odd how they wore unevenly. Thoughts? Ever since I've first gotten my bike I've always had to finesse the clutch pack height. So there's a chance that I might have swapped some steels. I don't think I would have been dumb enough to swap out the spring plate though. Still, I'm curious what could have caused this odd wear.

Is the drum or basket grooved (worn) and causing some of the plates to hang up?

And/or limited travel of the pushrod due to aftermarket slave?

Just speculatin....

I can't remember well, but I read somewhere there is an issue with the first and maybe the second or the last plate were different and there was an installation order.  Did you install them in the right order, whatever that may be?

The basket and drum don't look all that bad. I noticed that my warped plate was awfully flat and I could barely differentiate it from the other plates.
