Mods to the DB Killer on the Termi exhaust.

I just recently installed SS Termi's on my 696 and without the DB Killers, it way too loud for my neighbors. Seems too quiet with the DB Killers installed tho. After looking at the DB Killers, I was wondering if anyone has cut off the welded end of the tube?
I had a SV650 with Yoshimira exhaust, and the DB killer for the Yosh exhaust was just a smaller tube inserted in the end. The end of the Yosh DB wasn't plugged, like the Termi's.
Another question: I purchased the Termi's on Ebay and after installing the Racing ECU, my odometer reading was 1000 miles more than what is was before the install? Is the mileage stored on the ECU?
Thanks,

You can probably drill one hole at a time - stop when you have the sound you want/neighbours can live with.
(some dB killers, as you mention, are open - shouldn't be a problem to drill or even cut)

i have to disagree even a 620with termi without db killers is a bit annoying at odd hours and neighbors will hate you, trust me i know i used to have them wihtout db killers.
you can either cut off the entire closed end of the db killer and some people like that. or you can try what i did which was drill a 1/4 inch diameter hole in the closed end and then put in and see how much louder it gets, and repeat with drilling a larger hole in it until you get the desired result.
i drilled about a 3/8-1/2 inch hold in the end of the db killer, its only slightly louder than the termi with the stock db killer but nowhere as loud at idle-3k rpm as the full open termi pipes. but above 4k and such it does get a bit louder you still get the classic termi sound but its not nearly as obnoxious anymore.

I cut the welded end off, and the sound isn't too loud, a little bit louder than the stock cans. I haven't had a chance to ride with the new Termi's, since it is the start of the rainy season up here in the NW. Oct thru July

No the odo' milage is not stored on the ECU.
Are you sure its not displaying kilometres? Coz the ECU default is "EU" which will cause your speedo/odo to show kms. If this is the case then you're gonna want to change it to "US" mode. I'm happy with kilometres myself, but for US users heres how to switch >>

+1. On every DP Pipe Set we install at the shop, the last part of the puzzle is changing the clocks back to US from Metric. You toggle through the countries to "US".

Over here in the UK when you get stopped by the police they do the inspection thing and if you've got small holes in the end of your cans where you've removed the DB killers they can give you an on the spot fine if they so wish.
What I do to cans that I fit to friends bikes is to cut about an inch off the sealed end of the inner DB killer tube, the difference in sound is only slightly louder and you've got the screws in the end of the cans to keep plod off your case.

Thanks for the responses regarding the odometer. Living in the US all my life, I don't think about anything set to kilometers, and this is the my first bike with an electronic instrument panel.
