I'd add a light flywheel and coil kit from ca-cycleworks to Stew's stage one idea.

I'd like to play with a 696...  I don't think the barrels & heads will swap as I *think* the stud spacing is different, but Raux, you are right...  696 heads out flow any of the others.

As far as the coils go, they'd help so I can recommend them.

The AL flywheel MAY be too light on a small crank motor.  I'd recommend a turned down steel flywheel for a hot-750, but that's just me.
