Speedo/Tach swap

What year gauges will work with my bike (2005 M1000)?  If I find a good condition used set can I switch these gauges out without problems or is this something the shop will need to do.

you'll need a virgin set of gauges, used one that have been mated to another ecu wont work.
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

How come you occasionally see gauges for sale by themselves?  Without an ECU wouldn't these be worthless?

If they've been mated before they are and you see them because people don't know they can't use them yet. If they haven't been mated you can mate them to yours, if they have been mated they're a paperweight.

Couldn't you just reflash the ECU?

Although, with the cost of the gauge cluster and the reflash you're better off just buying one of the many setups on ebay.
