Looks like I need a new throttle body to heal my 999s.  Is that something I can round up used, or something that I should buy new?

I bet the price of new will be scary.

I was afraid of that.  New question, anyone have any idea where I can find them used?

Have you looked in the classified section on ducati.ms? There are always people parting out SBKs over there.

Cool.  Thanks for the link Dp.  $225 seems reasonable.  Ducati will want $9gazillion and have a 6 month backorder.  I added to my watchlist.  That seems promising.

Darkstar, My plan was to cruise the classified today at work.  The shop won't be open until Tuesday.  I will be able to get more details on the exact problem then.

I appreciate the help guys.

is it the TB itself or a component of it?

like the injectors, butterflies, springs, etc?

From what my feeble little mind could comprehend from the techs description, it was wear(?) in the linkage that was causing hesitation in the butterflies while the throttle was opening, causing the throttle sensor to read that the throttle was momentarily closing.  I questioned the wear part of the equation, considering the bike only has 8100 miles on it.  Sounded to me like it might have been a bad / out of tolerance / faulty / etc. throttle body from M. Marelli, but whether it was or wasn't, the bike is 5 years old, so I don't think Ducati would care.  Of course, they don't sell individual replacement parts, so I had to aquire an entire throttle body.

What are you going to do with your old ones?

Hadn't really thought about it.  You want them?

It all depends on how much.  Let me know once you get to that point.

If you are talking about the same problem that I have had for the last 3 months on a bike that I rode for a week, then yes it is.
