Does the MTS and the Monster 900 share the same injectors?

Hiya,

Rebuilding a M900ie and found that one of the injectors is damaged.  Here's a pic from my iPoor phone ....

Essentially the female plug had been ripped off by some crash damage.  My question is: Does a first generation Multistrada 1000 share the same injectors as the M900ie?  The M900 part number is : 280.4.007.1A, but the MTS part no: is 280.4.015.1A.  Trying my luck here, I am sure that the injectors cost a bomb used or new.

Appreciate the help here.

Cheers

since I'm not 100% sure the only thing I can recommend you is remove the injector and read the manufacture part #, it should be stamped on it

I'll do that. My concern is that the size of the jets may be different between a 900 cc and 1000 cc machine.

I'm pretty sure I've got an extra set of throttle bodies for an 00/01/02 M900. If I do I'd sell em cheap. They include the injectors as that's the only reason I got em. If you're interested lemme know and I'll dig.

You have the top feed Pico injector IWP 043 marked with brown ring.
(Although your ring is also missing)
They flow 330 cc/min at 3 bar and have four holes.
You will find the same type on early MTS.
You can also use the later type IWP 162 marked with white ring.
You will find the above on both 620, 800, 900 & 1000 2V engines.
It is only the green side top feed IW031 injectors (with one hole/needle) as found on 900SSIe that you should stay away from.

Holy make the beast with two backs.  :o

That's an incredibly detailed, concise, informative post. And it's your second post on the forum?

WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN, MAN?!?!  ???  >:(  ???

edit: You can take that to mean: Welcome to the board. I look forward to learning much from you.

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

i googled the iwp162 and found the following page - http://www.magneti-marelli.com/product.php?id=143

which had a link to this pdf pico injector comparison -

the 750ss and 900ss had the green end flow iw031, and the monster maps with the iwp043 were both richer and leaner in places.

I stand corrected regarding the flow for the IWP162.
The offical document seems to indicate 377 cc/min.
This is the first time I see official figures for the IWP162 that only were sold as oem product before. (HD & Ducati)
It was the infomation from the flow test done by Doug that made me post the info.

the 1xx series seem to be multihole - i would have expected the 162 to be a multihole version of the 043 with the same flow specs, as the 182 (pink) is a 12 hole version of the 069 (yellow).  the 182 and 069 are pretty much directly interchangable i'm told, flow specs are almost identical too.

you can get any of the injectors from webcon in the uk.  the red band ones are also used by motoguzzi and mv agusta, and way cheaper from guzzi.  but i'd get anything from webcon or mmcompsys instead of the oem supplier.  well, italian ones anyway.

Thanks for the assist, my mech's shop happened to have a MTS's injector that seems to fit the bill.

Really appreciate the info, guys.
