Xtreme ‘Race Your Mates’ Track Day
Challenge

Introducing the First Weekday Racing specifically for Ride Day Junkies Looking For A New Challenge

Ride days were introduced and became popular about twenty odd years ago and in that time hardly anything has changed in how they are run. So are you one of the track day junkies who has done a million miles around a race track at ride days and feel like doing something more exciting and challenging?

If you are one of those people who would like to go to the next level of track day challenges but don’t want to take the big step of joining a club and spending your weekends going racing against A graders then we believe we have the answer you have been waiting for.

New for 2011 Xtreme Wakefield Park Ride Days will be introducing a brand new Track day concept at Wakefield Park Raceway, that being the newly named Xtreme ‘Race Your Mates’ Track Day Challenge. The Race Your Mates Track Day Challenge will only take place during week days and will be open to either riders who have never raced previously or competitors who retired at least five years ago. Ex racers will have their own group, as will riders new to racing.

At this stage there are three Xtreme ‘Race Your Mates’ Track Day Challenge events schedule in the first half of the year, after round two we will announce the further dates for the remainder of the year.
Calendar
E1 ... Wednesday 23rd February
E2 ... Wednesday 6th April
E3 ... Friday 24th June.

How will an Xtreme Race Your Mates Track Day Challenge day work?

There will be five groups each day and groups from T1 to T4 will be split up according to lap times.

T1 ... will be open to any riders who do a lap time under 1.07.00
T2 ... will be open to any riders who do a lap time under 1.12.00, but not under 1.07.01
T3 ... will be open to any riders who do a lap time under 1.18.00, but not under 1.12.01
T4 ... will be for any riders who do not do a lap time under ... 1.18.00
T5 Masters ... This group will be open for any ex road racer 40 years of age or over who has not competed / raced in the last five years prior to the 1st January 2011.

Each group will get two ten minute timed practise and qualifying sessions prior to racing which will determine what ‘T’ group and what row they are on for the day.

Each group will have four scheduled races of five laps each on the day.

Each row of four in each group will receive a trophy for being the top placed rider in their row overall for the day.

In groups T1 to T4 the rows of riders will be double spaced (starting Row 1, then Row 3, Row 5 etc) so a maximum of twenty riders will be accepted for each group. T5 Masters will have normal spacing per row and will have a have up to 32 entries.
There will be no overall winner for the day in each group rather riders will be awarded a winners trophy for being the first rider to win overall their row of four on the day.

All competitors will need either a MA National Competition License or a AASA National Competition License. A AASA license is just $190 for the year and doesn’t require a rider to join a club, so there is substantial savings to be had by going down the AASA path. AASA licenses are also accepted at all Australian FX-Superbike Championship rounds and AFXC end of year extravaganza plus all 2011 St George Motorcycle Club rounds.

To get a AASA National Competition License a rider will need to do a ride day at Wakefield Park Raceway prior to their first Xtreme Race Your Mates Challenge event where they will be observed for track craft on the day. Then the rider can apply on the day and the AASA in nearly all cases provides a competitor license within 7 working days of applying after being observed.

There are two Xtreme Ride Days prior to the first round;
Friday 28th January
Friday 10th February

If a rider has previously held a MA national competition license then it is only a case of applying and paying for a AASA national license, again you will receive your AASA license in approximately 7 working days.

Again if you want to take part in these’ Race Your Mates’ days in groups T1 to T4 then you must not have raced previously.
These days are primarily meant as not only as a fun way to further enjoy your track day riding experiences but also as a basic introduction to racing. Some will go on and take the next step and some will not, but either way all riders will have experienced a totally new way of being involved in track days that is more exciting and challenging then your normal run of the mill track day.

For those wanting to use these days as a stepping stone into national racing we will be announcing shortly some very interesting news so stay tuned.

All machines will be scrutineered and we will release very soon a simple and short list of modifications required to take part in these days.

Entry fees for the Xtreme Race Your Mates Track Day Challenge days will be $245.00 inc GST per event. The entry fee will include timing transmitter hire and garaging in pit lane for one bike.

Sounds like a very good idea, and I'm not surprised that it has come from Terry O'Neill.

Would be fun on my Monster, must dust her off and start that rebuild.
