To answer your question, the only tires I was aware of growing appreciably were some of the older Dunlop race tires.

The newer ones were changed. They found the tire growing affected the handling in a bad way on race bikes. ;)

those grew alot, the fronts still grow enough to make a carbon fender explode if you don't space it well enough, speeking from experience here.  lol [bacon]

My Power One V has pretty much destroyed my front fender.

No explosion, just a gradual chew.

A couple of people (me included) have noticed that Dunlop's Sportmax Q2 180/55 appears much wider than the same sized tyre by other manufacturers.  Some discussion on the subject here >>  http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=45162.msg822827#msg822827  <<  A 180 that thinks its a 190?  ;).  Maybe that would provide the compromise you're looking for??

I have a new (unmounted) 180/55 Dunlop Q2 which I can measure for you if thats any help....
