So it's official Tuesday I will pick up my first DUC, brand new 2010 Monster 696.  I have been riding on the street for 2 years and dirt bike riding since I was 12 (I'm 20 now).  I'm excited to see what the monster has to offer and hopefully meet some cool people to ride with.  I live in the Santa Clarita area, anyone else live around here?

Welcome to the group awall!  I just moved from Santa Clarita to Santa Paula last year.  There's a group of us that ride out this way in Ventura County...just a few minutes ride west of you.  Ever been out this way?

Great riding in your neighborhood though...I miss Lake Hughes Road, Bouquet, San Francisquito, and the back way to ACH.

All the time! I was born and raised in Santa Clarita so I head your way to the beach quite often. I have never been on the infamous ojai ride so maybe nextweekend will be the day.

Not sure what my plans are for next weekend yet, but if I'm free, I'd be glad to show you around the local rides.  Several other guys will probably be riding as well so just post it on the board.

Welcome, and congrats on your first Duc!

I'm in Moorpark.  Come down the 126 and over the 23.

We'll probably do the 33 either this coming weekend, or the first weekend in Feb.

It will probably be on a sunday, seeing as I work on saturdays.

I, as always, will bring bacon.

I only see jesus having a sauna with a teletubbie.

I find it disturbing that you're imagining me in a sauna, never mind the teletubbie aspect of it

I picked my bike up this morning, and long story short I went to renew my motorcycle permit that expired the 14th of this month and they told me I had to be 21 to renew it or take the CHP safety course.  So this weekend I will be doing that, but next weekend I really want to go on a ride.

This weekend is Santa Barbara again, but NEXT weekend is the 33 run again!  [moto]

One of my friends goes to UCSB, is there a way to get there without being on the 101 the whole time?

Yes Grasshopper...they way of the Twist E.

Make your way to Santa Paula, then take 10th St/Ojai Road (150) over the hills to Ojai.  Follow 150 through town and at the intersection with the 33 continue straight on.  A couple miles later, 150 turns off to the right, as if going to Casitas Lake.  The 150 goes over the mountains to Carpinteria.  Before you get to the coast though, keep an eye out for 192 (Casitas Pass Road).  Turn right on to 192 and follow it as it winds around Carpinteria (it becomes Foothill Road), behind Summerland (turns onto Toro Canyon Road, then East Valley Road), and on through Montecito.  You can continue winding through the foothills above SB, then drop down to the city near the mission.

Or,  have your friend meet you at your place in Santa Clarita.
Take the 126 west to Santa Paula.
Exit 10th St/Ojai Rd. Turn right.
Look for a large man in a red suit.  (It's not Santa)  That will be orangelion03.
He'll lead you there.  He needs an excuse to ride more anyway!!!   :-*

My parents always told me to be careful of strange men in red suits  ;D. But my friend doesn't ride so it will most likely just be me.  I think it is a perfect excuse to go to SB for the weekend.  Of course I will be walking my bike into his living room to lock up since I don't trust those crazy college kids around my Duc.

orangelion03

Did you get wet riding up to SB and back?

Ready to share the road with fellow DMFers this weekend?  Hoping to ride the 33 on Sunday.
