Im finding that when i go two up on my 800 my passenger keeps sliding forward off the pillion section and trying to share the solo section of the seat with me. is this a normal issue with the oem monster seats or is it a product of something Im doing?

i do tend to ride upfront at the tank and my passenger is light framed so she can actually fit there, its just not as comfortable on a hot day. she is inexperienced with motorbikes so Im wondering if it could be out of fright that she is holding on so tight and pulling herself forward but Im not going to tell her to move back yet, not till she is comfortable on the back anyway. At least with my Passenger being female helps as there isn't the issue with unwanted tackle rubbing.

As I recall from my days of riding an M900, this was pretty normal. Stop lights were useful to give you a moment to shove her back up onto her part of the seat.

Clip-ons do not make this situation any better. [laugh]

She should be using her hands to brace herself against the tank to prevent this.

+1 on her thighs gripping you or the seat depending on how long her legs are. I played chauffeur for a race official during a bicycle race once and the girl I took held on only with her legs so she could write notes with both hands. She was an amazing passenger. Hardly noticed she was there.

The end is in sight! Gotta buckle down and get to work!

i've been told that this is the best method too... as you come to a stop, she lets go of your hips and puts her palms onto the tank, bracing herself there so she stops the slide forward.

also, puts her hand closer to your crotch which is never a bad thing ;)  haha

I think in the riding techniques section there is a thread that talks about what it takes to be a good passenger.

Passengers hands against the tank will solve the problem like what scissor stated.

Also, the DP comfort seat is made from a non-slip material, much more comfortable (if you can find one). With my stock seat, I kept sliding forward into the tank. This made a big difference

my wife rides with her arms around me when we are steady speeds, but her hands more on my waist/hips when riding more in town. she can push forward on my hips when stopping that way. plus she has more awareness of my weight shifts that way as well for turning.

i had a different girl on the other night and told her to put her hands on the tank, works good thanx. just gotta look out for the quick hand grip change from tank brace to belly hold when i change from brakes to throttle :P

also i had the first male ever on the back of a bike of mine on the way to a themed party the other day too, was a great entrance in inspector gadget and 007 outfits. and i was pleasantly surprised with the total lack or grinding!!

its kind of funny, I like how you went with your own method and just got rid of the girl and got a new one, Maye you should post that in the tech section.
