Just got back from the 1st test ride.
Made 6miles in the city. the temperature didn't pass 180F.
No leaks so far.

question : is the high temperature on the summer (250F) going to make any difference?

I had the exact same oil leak issue on the vertical cylinder on my 2001 Monster 600. I visited my local Ducati specialist for a checkup. He's a great and honest guy and told me that Ducati don't use usual gaskets to seal the heads, but sealant. He also told me that the leak isn't a big issue, that it was a complicated fix (precisely what you did - for which I say: bravo!) for such a small problem and that it won't bother me other than visually, as the engine didn't seem to lose compression.

Anyways, to somewhat answer your question, I've noticed that the oil leaked much more in the hot summer months when I got stuck in traffic for a while. I can't give you an engine temperature sample as the 2001 600 Monster had a simple double analog dash, with no electronic LCD input. But, to make it short, the real trial will indeed be in the summer heat. And if you ask me, you should be OK  [thumbsup]
- Monster 600 (2001) [sold]
- Monster S4R (2005) [in use]
