I've just installed CRG bar end mirrors, utilizing CRG bar end adapters.  I noticed that the stock bar ends are quite a bit heavier, and I assume the weight is for dampening.

Might it be better to machine grooves for the mirrors in the stock bar ends, to maintain the stock weight?  I suspect that the combined weight of the CRG mirrors and CRG adapters is less than that of the stock bar end weights.

I like the mirrors.  It sure will be nice to see behind!!!!

I put mirrors into the bars without weights and didnt notice any difference. Ride it as it is now and decide for yourself.

I have a CRG on the left side only with the CRG adapter and had the stock bar end weight on the right side for awhile. I also really didn't notice a difference. Eventually swapped to an STM bar weight on the right side and still feels pretty much the same.

When I installed the CRGs on my bike I also felt that the adapters provided were on the light side. I found some Rhinomoto bar ends that had the groove designed into them. The CRGs fit great and the bar end weight feels very much like the stock bar end's weight.

On another forum someone suggested stuffing memory foam into your clip-ons to reduce vibrations. I don't know if the same works for regular bars though.
