Does anyone have any recommendations for free software to transfer music from an ipod/iphone/nano to Itunes?
Thanks in advance.  ;D

just enable disk mode (in itunes) and copy the directory over. you'll need an id3-based renamer to get your filenames back (if that's important to you).

So does that mean I'll have the songs but loose their titles?

the id3 tags will still be there, but the filenames will no longer be 'depeche mode - the sweetest perfection.mp3'.

But can it be done with an iPod that is being connected to a "new" computer that has never been setup with iTunes?  I had to get a new computer recently and whenever I hook up the iPod its gonna erase everything because the music isnt in the same directory or something like that.

i think so.. you obviously don't want to sync, just enable disk mode.

i'll test it on one of my machine later today to confirm.

keep in mind that the iphone and ipod touch don't have the disk mode option.  If you are using an older hard disk-based ipod you are good.  If not you'll need some software like iPodAgent or something to get it.
