Poorly running s4r 07'

I know this sounds silly but what kind of spark do you have? Things I would check are : plug wires,clean plugs,coils,charging system and use the proper battery as they use a lot of amperage,check and clean battery terminals.Check that you have a good ground from the battery. 90% of electrical issues are a shitty ground.

In case it helps, my 07S4Rs (same engine):

- usually starts within a couple of cranks, and with the throttle left alone.

- had a voltage regulator go bad, so that the battery went flat and wouldn't start the bike. For irrelevant reasons, I rode it about 50 miles like that, push starting twice (no fun!). Bike ran fine on the highway but would die immediately if revs dropped to idle levels.

I would assume that if the battery is getting 12.5-14V while the bike is running, all is OK. ?

Telltale sign for mine was discoloured insulation on the wires coming from the regulator, obviously from overheating.

It seemed to me your bike's symptoms were different from mine. So I was thinking your problems probably were not (just) down to battery/regulator issues.

The rest could have been merely bad fuel tho.

Does one of your lines have a White Band on it?
