Newer Monster engine mods?

So it seems there are a lot of external performance mods for the newer Monsters, but what is out there for actual internal engine mods? Things like big bores, camshafts, high performance heads or head work like porting, etc...etc..

I need to start collecting parts for when this bike (696) finally gets off warranty...

Speeddog

800 crank and the 800 hi-comp pistons to go with it.

I've not seen any cams for the small case motors, the 696 cams aren't bad at all.

Head work, sure.

the 800 heads are a different chamber shape possibly so not sure a HC piston would fit. would have to be a custom job most likely.

i had a theory about using the 696 pistons with the 800 crank and placing thicker shims under the cylinder. a total of 4.4mm would be needed to keep the same compression ratio, but you could shorten it to get a slightly higher ratio.

the 696 compression ratio isn't exactly low, going higher than 11:1 on pump gas would be hard on the motor, it's 10.7:1 already.

the valves are the biggest they can get for good flow, any larger and you start getting wall interference with the flow.

you could go higher on the RPM limit as well.

i have a set of 1100 cams that eventually i want to try on the 696 along with lightweight cam gears, lightweight flywheel, polish and porting.

the TB is the same as the 1100 as well i think so no need to go larger.

the airbox and exhaust can be worked on of course
