dewinterized the bike a few weeks ago.  rides have been sparse so far but noticed a slight ticking sound in the engine.

almost sounds like an exhaust header leak but saw/felt nothing.  sound is like a combination of an exhaust leak and a dry clutch.  but i didn't find any leaks and i dont have a dry clutch.   ???

if i had to choose what side, i'd say coming from the right side of the bike, but sounds equally from both.
gonna get down and dirty with the beast tomorrow.  what else should i be looking for?

oil changed 200 miles ago
plugs changed 2000 miles ago
belts changed 500 miles ago
valves adjusted 6000 miles ago

would appreciate any thoughts on possible causes of the sound.

Possibly a loose clutch hub nut, or if you really can't tell which side the noise is coming from, you can use an extension or screwdriver as a crude stethoscope.

so i got my hands on a stethoscope today.

all prepared to dig into whats making that sound.....and then....nothing.
bike runs smooth and no sound.  i should be happy but im actually kinda disappointed.  was just expecting a day working on the bike.  instead it became a ride day instead   :)
