Won't Idle after 1 hour of riding

Something strange is happening. My S4Rs after about an hour of riding will suddenly die as soon as I release the throttle. It will start right up but just won't idle so whenever I get to a stop light or stop sign, I needed to squeeze the throttle to stay up. Its not a temperature issue because even at 125 deg. it still dies. The only time its ok is before I start riding, but after an hour problem shows up. I've tried resting for 2 hours but still dies, except for overnight. The next day its fine again. What do you guys think it is?  Any opinion is appreciated. Thanks.

I had a similar problem years ago and it turned out to be a bad connection on the temperature sensor.  The contacts were cleaned and it was fine again.  Mine wouldn't suddenly die, but it ran fine when cold, then started running rougher and would stall and be hard to start when warm.  It's a simple thing to check.

Thank you for your response. Is your bike over heating?

No, my bike didn't get any hotter than usual, it just ran poorly when warm.

Mind you, mine is an air-cooled two-valver, but the symptoms sound similar.  On my bike, the air temperature sensor is right behind the headlight, so it's pretty easy to check and clean the contacts as a way of starting with the simplest of possible solutions.  Try that first and move on if that's not it.

Its the air temp sensor. I thought its the engine temp. It sounds similar so I'll try it. Anything right now helps before I take it to a shop and get a huge bill.  Thanks again.
