So  just recieved my DP ECU from Desmo Porsche
I have been told to reset the TPS ,
excuse my ignorance but
what does the Throttle position sensor do ?
Can I instal the ECU then ride the bike to Ducati
to have it reset?
What happens to the motorcycles running before it is reset?
cheers

if it's a new monster, just cycle the ignition on and off 3 times.

if it's a old one, you're going to need software.  vdst i believe it's called... you can check around to see if you can borrow someone's

you can install it and then bring it to the dealer if you want though, it just messes up the idle i believe.

Desmo Porsche had the DP  ECU on my doorstep in Australia within the week.
Set up? Its out of the box so not sure , if I have any issues I may run a PC over the top

You can only do that for the latest generation Monsters. For your S2R1000, you'll need a dealer or the VDST software & cable interface.

To answer your "what does it do" question it tells your computer what position your throttle is at.  In open loop mode throttle position and RPM are the major inputs your computer uses to deliver proper fuel delivery and ignition.  Setting TPS is letting the computer know what closed throttle is.  CO trim also should be set.  How well will the bike run without these set?  Matter of luck.
