I have a 2009 M1100 which I am quite happy with.  For the most part I never had any starting issues with the bike.  The only time I did have an issue was during a road trip when I tried to start the bike on a cold morning.  I think it might have been a combination of vapor lock and the cold night making the battery a bit weak.  I am getting ready for a few more long trips into the mountains and I was thinking it might be a good idea to replace the OEM battery with something that was a bit more powerful for those cold mornings.  Does anyone have any recommendations?  I tried searching the forum as well as online and could not find anyone with experience using anything but OEM.

Thanks, that looks like a great options.  Too bad they appear to be out of stock.  I guess I will just have to put my name down and wait.

If you don't want to spend the money on a Shorai, I've had my oem (or I'm convinced it is) Yuasa battery for 3 years now on minimal tending and it's NEVER even thought about not starting.  I'll probably pick up a Shorai eventually, but until then, the Yuasa seems to be a good bet.

Looks like the Ballistic is about the same price as the Shoria and the technology looks similar.  Shoria said they should have batteries in stock by early May.  Since I live a few minutes away from their headquarters, I think I will just pick up one of their units then.  Thanks for the suggestion.

check the link to the webbikeworld review of the ballistic vs shorai battery posted in the other thread... ballistic might possible be a better choice due to the much stronger battery terminals.

I read the review.  In the end, the ended up choosing the Shoria as their long therm test bike.  I think part of it was that it was easier to install.  I also heard that Shoria was working on the issue of the leads.  Has anyone heard if this has been resolved.

Maviryk designs is another choice.  I have no experience with them personally, but am curious if anybody does..
