2001 900 engine compatibility

just wondering what other year 900's would fit the 2001 with hoop suspension. I remember also reading a thread about 1000 engines being compatible, but maybe an issue with exhaust compatibility or sumfin.

any thoughts would be appreciated.

All the 900s will fit. The earlier bikes may have smaller mount bolts, but that can be worked around.

The 1000 will fit too, but you'd have to change wiring harnesses to make the correct ecu work.
