Hi all.

I am purchasing an 01 m900s IE.  The guy I bought it from purchased the kit from ducati that included CF exhaust, open air box and a power commander unit. It also has lowered gears.
The PC has not been mapped at this time. I am reading different opinions as to if I should have the PC mapped or just get the stock ECU tuned.  Is there an advantage in one over the other? Anything else I should be aware of?
Thanks.

Howie

All you can do with the stock ECU is CO trim.  You already have the PC, a custom map will should make you happy.

Sorry for the newb question but what do you mean by "CO trim"?

Is a dyno required in order to map the PC?  We have a very good dyno shop in town but the cost is about $300.00 to dyno and map the PC. I just want to make sure I am taking the right course of action.

Howie

Never apologize for a question.

CO trim adjusts how rich or lean your engine is running.  This is accomplished by using a factory scan tool or after market software to adjust the "duty cycle" of your fuel injectors (how long they are open, squirting fuel).  This adjustment mostly affects idle.

You can get "canned maps" for your PC, but a custom map on the dyno is best.

Thank you very much for the replies Howie.

I have an appt set up with the dyno shop in two weeks.  Looking forward to it.
Will I get any HP increase at all out of a PC mapping?  Will I notice an affect with anything else (such as throttle control, etc)?

you should get better overall throttle response and probably a few ponies/torque. plus youre engine should be running better since the a/f should be set up correctly now.
