Hello All,

New member here up in the Alexandria area. Hoping to pickup my first bike/monster soon. Was originally planning on getting a sportsbike but after looking up insurance rates and thinking of not killing myself and the sexyness of a monster decided that a used m620 might be a good first road bike for myself.

Welcome.  I'm in Annandale.  Check out the regional section ("CAM").  The M620 is a great bike, first or otherwise.

Lots of folks in NoVa, and lots of folks recently popping up on the board from the DC metro. As mentioned, we've our own section CAM:

It's a pretty chatty area, so stop by and join in.

hahah, not killing yourself. Well yeah a 620 might not be a GSXCB1000RR aaarrrrrrrr but don't fool yourself, it's got plenty of possibility for anyone to end up pavement surfing. All that being said, the 620 is a great bike. It's the baby, but I was temped to buy back my 620 when the guy I'd sold it to went to resell it. If fun as hell to ride a 'slow' bike fast.

One of my fave moto memories was on my 620. Was behind this guy on a 750 i4 who was very slow in the turns, and then blast down the strait. The 620 couldn't drag that 750 down in the straight, so after a little bit of that park and blast... I said 'F this' and him down hard on the brakes coming into a 90'ish degree bend, passed him on the outside under brakes and left him as nothing but a memory in my mirrors.
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

Welcome to the spot. We're one of the more active local boards and I look forward to seeing you at one of our many shenanigan filled events.

I ride a Duckling as well, but of the 695 variety (don't be fooled, it's the same damn bike). Most fun you can have with your clothes on, and Sad Panda's right, they're all plenty fast to snuff yourself on.
Every time I meet a new group of your friends that understand you and your weird sense of humor I'm a little more amazed that there are other people in the world like you that lived through childhood - My loving girlfriend
