Exhaust wrap ... I'm confused ...

Hiya, need some wisdom.

I am thinking of taping up my exhausts' headers, more for cosmetics than anything. Do they come in black?  Does brand have any relation to efficacy? Mate of mine said they only come in white and have to be painted black.

Any one with experience?

Also, I recommend starting from the back and working your way forward. Otherwise the leading edge tends to fray and it looks like crap after a short while.
