While I am not the biggest fan of the aesthetics of the bikini fairing on the new monster, I decided to make an attempt to make it look a little better.  I have never liked the fact that it sticks up so high and looks like a total afterthought. So I came up with a solution to lower it.  H-Competition is going to be manufacturing this mod and it will be pretty cheap and easy. Before I have the pieces manufactured, just want some other opinions (good or bad gladly accepted).  When I have made products for the new monsters it has oddly always been to please myself first (my wife claims I do this as well..) Please excuse the badly taken cell phone pics...The first pic is the stock height bikini fairing and the second is of the prototype lowering kit.  NOTE: This does not affect the headlight beam..

I can see the images.

The lowered looks better, but still not very good :-\

If it is a cheap mod, sure, why not.

If I had a 696 that I wanted to pretty'fie I'd get one of these:

Fixed it for ya.  Those windshield things are hideous.  These are even worse from the side view.

I can't see the image either unlike I right-click on the image and "open in new window". Anyway, I think it looks a bit better, though it feels a bit 'tight'. Honestly the gap never bothered me until I completely removed the fairing. Then I think it needs to be lowered.

Does your mod lower the whole instrument pod or just the fairing? You might want to show before and after photos of the cockpit to see how that has changed.

The mod does not lower the instrument cluster, only the fairing itself. It also moves it slightly forward. I am attaching more pics, but it is hard to get a good perspective of what it looks like with the instrument cluster.

if you lower just the cowl and not the pod, realize you are opening up the back of the cluster. I was about to say do you ride in the rain, but you live in Phoenix... bet you don't know what rain is.

edit: I just read you moved to San Antonio... well, pretty much the same on the rain issue.

i like the lowered look better. makes it look a little cleaner imo.

Yes it does open the back of the pod, but then again all of the covers are open on the bottom. The gauge cluster must be somewhat weatherproof I am guessing. The fairing still covers the gauge pod from rain even with the forward mod.

And yes I always try to live where it doesn't rain much! I very much do not like riding in the rain...I am a fair weather rider!
