Hi everyone

Ive recently had my rectifier blow on my 98 M600 dark.

i have been searching for a replacement and am finding alot for more recent models but not alot for mine.

The rectifier i currently (had) was model number SH579A-11 which after searching i believe is possibly off a VRF800. I've also read that these weren't a good batch :)
Does any one know of where i can find a good aftermarket replacement ? Also do any of the newer model rectifiers work on the older bikes such as mine ? And is there specific
specs i should be looking for or would any 7 wire 3 phase rectifier do the job ? (i have found quiet a few newer rectifiers but am unsure if they would suit my bike)

Couple of bits of info : Its 3 phase,  7 wires in total 3 yellow 2 green and 2 red
                                I'm Located In Australia

If theres anything else i need to add here let me know as this is my first time posting and a big thank you for any help in advance

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Hi ducatiz

thank you for the reply.. but this rectifier is a 5 wire and isnt the right one for my bike :(

the hunt continues

ducatiz

it will fit just fine.

if you suss the wiring, you'll see that a few of those are just branches of the same wire.

you do not have an alien bike that doesn't work with the rest.  looks like a previous owner just grabbed what he could find and swapped the original one.

the rr51 actually has 6 wires.  don't mind the photo, look at the description.

you would be the 983,423,234th person to use one on your Ducati.  Electrex is well known.

the other think you can do is look up early 916 SBK's which had the same old 2 phase unit, and there have been more than a few where they splice in a unit like the Electrex or a different 3 phase unit from another stock model Ducati.

thank you both

just to check did the m600 dark 98 originally  run a 2 phase rectifier ?

thats the bit thats got me confused as it curently has a 3 phase unit in it

I don't believe any of the older bikes ran 3 phase until 2000 or so

I thought it was 2 phase till 98 on SBK's and across the product line after that using the 3 phase unit they implemented with the ST's  on the rest of the product line in 99 and 00 depending on model...I could be wrong on that...

Easy to determine, are there two or three wires coming off the stator.  Three wires equal three phase.

ratfunk

Yes definately 3 wires from the stator

Np buddy

And again thanks for the input!!

I'd rather ask the questions and have the input than make a wrong choice
