Boots getting scratched badly - Monster 696, sharp edges?

I epoxy painted my garage floor at my new house in 2005. For a moment it looked like a freaking operating room! Then in 2006 we had a horrible draught and all the cracks that were sealed and painted over reappeared with a vengeance! So my whole garage floor, which looked beautiful the year before, went to shit in just a year! All the previous cracks came back and looked worse than you could believe! Rivers of broken floor paint everywhere! If I had to do it over again I would have stained the concrete. Not painted it! At least the foundation/draught cracks wouldn't have been so bad with the stain. Live and learn.

Usually, I wouldn't care about wearing out my flip flops, but these wear marks were getting pretty deep and were starting to wear thru the sole of the sandals.  These Nordstrom brand sandals are over $40 a pair and having them develop wear marks on the bottom of the soles is kind of dump.  If I wore them out on the top of the sole, straps, etc....  I wouldn't even complain or post on a board.

It's also pretty weird that Ducati designed the sidestand so that it is right under the rear set. I can barely flick out the sidestand, I have to search for the damn thing under the foot peg. Honda and the other Japanese bikes tend to have these large bars connected to the sidestand for easier deployment.

I'm sure you can find someone to weld something easily to it. I wonder if your stand got bent in somehow? I never recalled having any problems when I had my 696.

On another matter, I absolutely hate the OEM pegs Ducati uses. The bare ball end are so slippery and useless. Switched mine out to a set from Nichols and they are so much better.

My 09 696 stand is tucked under the footpeg, but the part that I have to kick down is also right under the peg. I have to pry up the spring loaded footpeg to kick down the stand. I also noticed that there's a few degrees of play when I rest the bike on the stand, I thought it was just my stand but the other bikes in the dealer do it as well. I put the bike on stands and found that there was indeed a few degrees of play at the joint.

Do you have any pics of your footpegs?

The stock pegs on my 696 are just cast aluminum. It's not even rubber coated like on the Hondas. I can see how they cut costs/corners big time on the 696 versus the 1100 Evo. The 1100 has a nice rear set, almost the same as the Superbikes.

Its the same with my '11 696, the stand is under the peg.. I have to look, push up the peg, then down goes the stand..
Guess they changed the design on the newer ones...

I like the Rizoma and other aftermarket rear sets but they are kind of pricey.

My boosts are scratched to hell on the outside edges, I seem to miss the damn sliders and scrap the rubber 1/2 the time.

Rizoma rearsets are awesome!

I'm so used to the 696 kick stand that I don't even look for it, I just know instinctively where it is. I also wear a us size 12 alpine stars boot.
