Reset Fuel Injection 2005 620 Need Help!

All-

I have been working on resetting my FI on a 2005 620 with Bing throttle bodies.  I have run into a situation and need a little help.  Background….

Backed off or removed throttle cable and fast idle
Backed off throttle body screw.  There is only one.
Backed off sync screw 3 turns counterclockwise
Reset 150 and 434mv settings
Turn sync screw back in 3 turns
Closed air bleeds

When I started the bike it immediately went to 6000 plus revs.  Brad says I would need the fast idle to get it started again or there is a problem.  There is a problem! J

I started backing off the sync screw and the idle drops.  I noticed that no matter how much I turn the sync screw the air balance between the throttle bodies does not change.  The horizontal flows twice as much air as the vertical.  The more I turn out the sync screw the more the idle drops.  It will stall if I back it out enough.

So… I think I need to revisit the 150 and 434mv settings.  One problem I have is that I have fiddled with it so much that I have lost when my original setting was for the TB sync screw.  The more I look at it I don't think I have the left throttle body completely closed when setting the 150mv setting.  I am thinking I should do the following to get everything back into order.  What do you think?

Start over and instead of backing out the sync screw 3 turns- go ahead and back it out all the way.  This way I know the left butterfly is completely closed.  Set the 150mv setting.  Wind in the sync screw until the voltage just starts to change.  Now the two throttle bodies are synced and then go ahead and set the 434mv from there.

start again.  when the lh throttle is fully closed it should snap and lock.  if the sync is wound out the right way at this point you should be able to close the rh throttle by turning the cable wheel against the sync screw spring pressure.  you just need to make sure the lh is fully shut and the rh is open when you're doing the 150mv.  you can visually see the difference.

I don't recall winding the sync screw when I did mine, luckily I haven't had issues.
I was pretty certain both TB's were shut tight with idle backed off.
I take it the TPS is measuring position of the LH TB (since it's on that side?).

I've got a schmancy Harmonizer I can ride with, to evaluate the real TB balance under load.
I'm in no hurry as the TB sync on the Monster is a bit of a chore, access wise.

Mine has been a set it and forget it for the last 23K.

I have 47,xxx and counting miles on mine.  It has always idled around 900-1000 and a bit lean.  The spark plugs never make it the whole 6000 miles before I have to change them out in the summer.  I downloaded the ducatidiag software to set the trim.  GREAT program!

I started over and backed out the sync screw several turns.  This closed the LH TB nicely and I was able to set the 150mv.  Thanks Brad..  Since the idle screw is on the RH TB I had to balance the TBs before setting the 434mv.  I wound the sync screw back in until the 150mv setting just started to climb to sync the TBs.  Set the 434mv via the idle screw after that.

The bike idled at 1500 with the bleeds closed after setting everything up.  I hooked up the Ducatidiag and noticed the ECU was reading the throttle angle as 3.6 degrees.  Curious.  It should be 2.7 degrees at 434 mv.  Or so I thought.  So I reset the angle via ducatidiag to 2.7 and was able to get a 1100 rpm idle with the bleed screws out ~1 turn.  Runs great.  The balance screws were out 1.5 turns in the beginning.

**EDIT**   Looked this over again and Brad's formula is indeed correct.  2.7 does equal 434mv.  Duh!

I checked Brad's formula in his write-up.  2.7 degrees works up to 388mv or so and not 434mv.  I haven't back probed the wires to see what the voltage was after I set the 2.7 via the software.  Thanks again to Brad for his help and the excellent write-up.
