696 Belt and Valve Shims Check - much different to M900 ?

Planning to help friend with belt change and shim check on 2009 696

I have found doing this on my 2000 900ie quite straightforward, any big deal difference for a 696 ?

2000 Monster Dark 900 ie   Stock except for low Staintunes and a centrestand. 15:39 sprockets make for excellent highway gearing

It's a lot more work to get all the stuff off of a 696 for a valve adjust.

They're 7mm shims in the 696, so if you've got a kit for your 900... it won't help.
