Hello,

I have a 2001 Monster M900 S i.e..

I found the bike tipped over while having a bite at a diner, and minor cosmetic damage were the result.

A dent in the tank, Clear Coat was peeled off because of the Gasoline puddle and Clutch Lever was snapped in half.

Started the bike up and it started just fine, a little bit of hesitation because of the flooding but it started nonetheless.

I left to get a pickup truck and tried to start the bike up but it would just make a "Click" sound thats coming from the clutch system.
Checked all the connections from electrical to the fuel for any disconnect but everything was were it should be.

I tried to roll the bike on a rolling-start down the hill but to no avail.

Please Advise

Thanks,

Which side did it fall on?  Perhaps an electrical problem with the kickstand cutoff switch?

Is everything else normal when you turn the key?  Can you hear the fuel pump kick over?

My 2001 doesn't have the clutch switch, but maybe yours does?

Is the click sound you hear mechanical? or more electric sounding? I can't think of anything in the clutch that would "click."

It fell on the kickstand side.

The cutoff switch might not be the problem because it started on Neutral after I picked it up.
It was just later that day that it wasn't starting.

Additionalyl, since the Clutch Lever is broken I couldn't engage the clutch so it died after putting it to 1st.
So theres no way to prove that the kickstand cutoff switch is broken :(

Thanks.

Everything else seems normal.
The radiator light turns on. The fuel pump would kick.

I dont thing i have a clutch switch.

The click that I hear comes from the Dry Clutch, I opened it up and seemed that it was just clicking. Its not electric.

No clutch switch on an '01.  Radiator light????  New one on me.  Are you sure the bike is in neutral?  You should be able to roll the bike around without using the clutch.  If you can't disengage the clutch why would you want to put the bike in gear?

There are two ways to check the sidestand switch.  Disconnect the connector at the switch.  With an ohmmeter; sidestand up-continuity, down-infinity.  No ohmmeter?  Jump the two wires on the bike side of the connector, you have now bypassed the switch.

It is possible you have a weak battery.  Try jumping from a known good battery.  A car battery is fine as long as the car is not running.

Hello,

I can put the bike in Neutral without the problem. However, I'm having trouble engaging the clutch. It seems like the pin from the Clutch Lever Assembly got disconnected from the receiving end of the piston. So everytime I pull the clutch in and try to put it into gear, it would stall.
It should be a very minor problem.

What I'm really concerned about is that the bike is not starting.  :'(

I really doubt that its the sidestand switch because it started after I picked the bike up. It's not only until a couple of hours later that the bike couldn't turn over.

Bad Battery might be the culprit, but I couldn't check because it's at a storage facility.

I'll update the status as soon as I can.

Thanks,
Santos
