Hi, I have a 2003 Monster 1000ie with an open airbox, K&N airfilter and DP Remus cans installed. As far as I know it has no ecu work done to it.

I have noticed that in cold weather it really pops on deceleration and runs a little rough. Now I am not to savvy with all the ECU speak that goes on in the threads. Closed loop/open loop, what is my ecu? O2 sensors, does mine have one? What model ecu is in my bike as I know they're different to the S2r1Ks.

I have searched for hours through the forums but most of the threads are for later model monsters. What I want to know is what would the correct upgrade be for me? Would a power commander 3 do?

Or would one of Fat Ducs O2 sensor mods work. I read that they were designed for 2006+ models.

I rang someone today about an ecu reflash and wash told I would need to purchase a new ECU as they could not reflash mine due to not having the maps. So instead of costing me $240 it will cost $450.

What have you other 1000ie owners done out there?

Cheers for any advice.

Howie

Your bike is not closed loop, no 02 sensor.

Your options are:
    1.  Get A closed lid.
    2.  Have dealer or someone with software and an exhaust analyzer adjust CO trim.
This will address start up, idle and decel, but not much as RPM and load increase.
    3.  Ducati Performance ECU (if still available).
    4.  Power Commander with either a canned or custom (preferred) map

I suggest a Power Commander with a custom map.

Oh, check some other dealers, you should be able to get a DP flash, and, if you want, get rid of the immobilizer.

Cheers Howie. Just what I wanted to know.  [thumbsup]
