So I took my S4R to Desmoto in SF for 6K mile service yesterday. (As they were recommended here, and also from Micheal (mojotown owner).

I called them Wednesday, asked about how much would it cost, and what kind of work included.
(And I explained what I do by myself, and what I wouldn't do myself ... )

I was told that "6k mile service" is going to be $935 (and will take all day), but since I do most of the routine maintenance (such as oil & oil filter, spark plugs, air filter ... ) myself, they recommended to do only major work, which are
Valve adjustment
Rocker wear check
Adjust timing belt tension

The total came out $385.50 ($5.50 for gaskets, the rest Labor for 4 hours ).
I went first in the morning ( 9 AM ) and by 1:30 PM, the job was done. (So I could get back to Marin before Friday evening traffic on 101 N .)
I'm pretty happy the way thing went. (and the bike actually runs noticeably better, especially right off the idle. Didn't think "just" doing the belt tension and valve adjustment actually makes this much difference. )

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for everyone suggesting Desmoto. waytogo
Have a nice weekend.

We're damn lucky to have Desmoto so close by. Scott runs a very good business, and always does right by racers and regular riders alike. The only time I don't take my Ducati there is when I can't...like for factory warranty work.

I'll have to call them for my 12k service. I could have sworn I'd be there already, but the 2 year old and the wifey have cut the riding time.

I use them almost exclusively and it's been a while since I've been anywhere else.  They get it right most of the time and the price they give me is usually pretty reasonable.  I get quick turn around, too.  I don't know if it's like that for everyone.  I usually go running and screaming back to Desmoto after I've taken the bike somewhere else.  YMMV...
