Help strange problem

Ok my 695 has been sitting over a year (14 months) I just got back home yesterday so last night i drained the gas fogged the cylinders let her sit over night. Today I drained the gas and put in 2 gallons of fresh gas and fired her up to warm up the oil a little before I changed it. I let her idle for a good 10 minutes and put her into gear to move out to the driveway and she died, I tried several more times in 1st and 2nd and every time I click into gear the motor dies. The clutch seems to be free if I go into 1st with the motor off I can move her around freely with the clutch pulled in.
Any help would be appreciated I need to get my bike over to "speeddog" I have a long overdue appointment for some mods.

Is the side stand up?

Check the side stand safety switch and its accompanying wires/connectors.

oh damn I just went out to check my kickstand switch and I found one of my daughters toys wrapped around my kickstand and it wasnt going all the way up! LOL thanks man you saved me from a night of wondering, jeez I cant frigging believe it............
