Today I performed my 600mi service. The chain adjustment was the only part I was unsure about as I began the service. It wasn't that hard. I did not have a spanner wrench so I had to improvise. My chain was fairly loose and I did not want to ride the bike until it was corrected. So....I used a rubber mallet and a wooden dowel to rotate the eccentric and tighten the chain. (A dowel make of nylon or a similarly tough plastic would work as well if not better.)  Before I began adjustment I used a wet erase paint pen to make a mark across the eccentric and the swingarm for a reference point. The bolts at the rear of the swingarm were not overly tight to begin with so I grunt torqued them after I made the adjustment.

Does anyone know the actual torque spec for these bolts? They are 14mm. I would feel a heck of a lot better if I could actually put my torque wrench on these. Other than not knowing the torque spec the service was easy and went well.

I will be purchasing the spanner wrench soon. I just couldn't wait to get back on the bike. Although I probably won't until I find the torque spec for the bolts.

My S2R workshop manual says 12mm bolt, 33Nm and tighten in sequence 1-2-1 (tightening gradually, switching from one to the other and back)

If yours is 14mm - don't know if that means you need to apply more force.....

Anyway - you now have a ballpark number  [coffee]
