New here ... Mad Doctor light install help

Thought I'd spend some more time with this (difficult when it's 110 degrees in your garage). The kit includes a replacement wiring harness that plugs directly into the stock harness with the other end in the relay box wired directly to the light setup. Basically it appears to be "plug and play." It is not.

Plugging the connection together does exactly nothing. Nada. Zip.

I'm frustrated enough. This thing is going back.

If it's not too late - how about cutting away the middle piece of the bracket, so it/two parts will fit on top of the subframe? From that position it would also be possible to point them upwards?

Just thinking out loud - I know I would have returned them a long time ago - not much of McGyver in me
