Got the 14t put on the 696 yesterday....wow.  this has really made a difference in the first and second gear at slow speeds.  No more sputter and major clutch play to keep it from feeling like it was gonna bog out.  It seems to have helped the launch from a complete stop too.  Seems to flow better and doesn't seem like i have to give it as much gas as before to keep from stalling.  i want to thank everyone and especially this forum for the info on this Mod.  Great!!!  now if only i get back a couple months of summer!!!!

Glad to hear that worked! You had me worried...,  ;), but as I mentioned in the earlier thread, the bikes are massively overgeared, no doubt for noise and emissions. Now you can even use 6th gear!

I'm really enjoying reading about the results of the 14T drive sprocket upgrades, I ordered mine for my 796 last night as the bike exhibited the same thing at slow speeds.

I love the 14t sprocket on my 696 for the way that it improved drivability, although ill be glad to change it for a larger rear sprocket when it's time for a new chain. I'm a little tired of the whining that the chain makes due to the increased angle from the smaller sprocket.

On an unrelated note to the original topic, but related to the last post - I have an electraeon throttle cam and I love tha too. Haven't tried the throttle tamer. 14t sprocket + throttle cam = awesome response and fun!
