Does anybody know where I can pick up an 02 monster 750ie dark brake lever? I looked on CA Cycleworks and DesmoTimes sites but couldn't find the oem brembo lever.

My bike went over today, not a scratch on it (lucky) but the brake lever is bent out and down a little, I can definitely notice it when braking so I want to put it right. I could bend it back with a pipe (is this the best way? Anyone done this before?) but I don't want to risk breaking the lever clamp. I'm assuming I can remove the lever and work on it off the bike which would be ideal. Is this easy to do? Am I going to have to re-bleed the brake if I remove the lever?

Any help is much appreciated Smiley

Don't try bending it back. The levers are made to snap if they're bent too far, to protect the master cylinder from damage.

I've seen inexpensive OEM knockoff levers on ebay (~$30-40), so you might wanna try that. Also, they guys at Motowheels are very helpful, and could probably hook you up w/what you need...

I did the same thing you did when I first got my bike, and ended up overpaying for a replacement lever
($100  Angry )

-Fortunately it's easy to install a replacement, provided you didn't bend the connector which attaches the lever to the master cylinder, which is a pregnant dog to replace from what I've heard!!

I've got an OEM from a 2000 M900Sie with about 500 miles on it.  I paid retail but it's yours for $50.  PM if interested.

Would one of these work?

I have been thinking of getting one just for the adjustability.  chug

Thanks for the info Johnster and Valvefloat! I think I may get that adjustable one from monsterparts, I'll want to get the clutch lever shortly too so they match. Oh well. I guess I'll have a spare incase I ever screw up the clutch side haha.

So.. Funny story - I did try to bend the lever back very gently and I DID snap it haha. I guess I had to find out for myself. Removing the levers is a pice of cake. I just remember from days of riding bmx we used to bend our levers all the time, actually bend them out to increase the gap at the bars to stop from crushing your fingers when you pull hard, anyway... These OEM levers are made of that weird almost sand+glue effect like compound that just snaps under pressure, very brittle.

They must have some degree of bend tolerance in order to get bent out in the first place??

Thanks again for your help guys! I have a fresh new problem that I'll post momentarily   Roll Eyes
