Decides that instead of calling me up and telling me he didn't want to sell a set of 999 rotors to my wife who bid and won on them on ebay, he'd go to ebay and complain that he's blocked me from buying items.  Pissed? that my wife bought them, he immediately went to ebay to whine.  Of course, my phone number is clearly available to call...   So today I call him.  He's "not available", even though I can clearly hear him in the background.

This guy got all butt hurt about 2 years ago when I asked him to match pricing with Mike @ Gotham cycles on a frame.  Mike had a 996 frame for around 500, and for a few days so did DD.  DD then decides to raise the price of the item to $750.  WHen I ask him to match price with his prior (3 days ago) figure and with Mike...he throws a tirade on the phone and eventually hangs up on me.  What he said about gotham cycles I won't repeat, but he did call them a few choice names.

Just filling a few of you in out there on this dude.

I've never dealt with Ducati Depot.

I have bought a couple of things from Gotham, and have been generally impressed with their price and promptness in getting said items to me.

I've had nothing but good luck with Tom. :-\

Let me translate from Taft:

I asked to buy something for less than it was being sold for (why he couldn't buy from the other guy with a $500 frame is unclear). Now after insulting the guy previously, I try to buy more parts from him but he doesn't want to deal with me, so I have my wife do it, which he also doesn't like.

Now I'm going to badmouth him to the whole world for not selling me parts some time back for less than asking price because I wanted a discount.

Given the track record of what Taft has said about all other service type people I'm sure he was nothing but respectful during all these transactions. Just got a random tirade for a frame for no reason whatsoever. Then he tried to buy more parts.

Yes, it all makes sense. Tom is clearly evil and kicks babies.

Or one could just.....stop trying to buy stuff from people/places they don't like.

I'll translate for everyone:

"I have my panties in a wad.  That guy has his panties in a wad.  Why are we wearing panties?  I don't know."

(i will say that ducatidepot's website doesn't work with firefox so i never bother with it..

and the guys who break ducatis tend to be a little "off" anyhow..  even overseas in UK and Italy, they are sort of like forensic pathologists.. they're just a little weird...)

Lets break it down for you.

History - Tom had a frame for $500.  I called, expressed interest in it.  2 days later he raises the price on the frame.  I simply asked him to honor the previous price, and pointed out how others were selling it for $500 (as 2 days prior he had it marked).  He threw a fit about it, and hasn't spoken to me since.  I bought the frame from Mike btw, but tried to give DD the biz as I had spoken to Tom about it, and felt our conversation warranted some sort of loyalty.

Fast forward till now.  Wifey goes online in search of a set of 999 rotors.  She finds a pair, and buys them.  She doesn't know about Tom's tirade, and had no idea that he didn't want to do business with me.

Instead of being a man, calling me on the phone and telling me he doesn't want my business, he runs to ebay and tries to get me thrown off.

Then he has you screen my call from me, and of course (as expected) has yet to pick up the phone and call me back.

It was unfortunate how he handled my request to honor his price back in the day, but obviously he hasn't forgotten about it.  Turning away business is fine, but dicking with someone else's source of "fun" income isn't something I take lightly.

Im sorry I gave you an earful on the phone yesterday, but I was "aggressivly" expressing my disapproval with the way your boss handles his business.

I have had one email interaction with Tom.

I can't say I liked the way I was addressed.

In fact, because of that, I would likely buy from him as an absolute last resort.
