Hi guys, i was just wondering, any of you evo owners have had a problem with your turn signals? Mine get full with water and condensation easily and it really aggravates me. i went to the dealer and they told me that is the way they work. Wich makes no sense to me because water + electricity = horrible problem. They dont want to replace them. called ducati north america and told the customer service guy about it and explained my situation with the dealer and he told me that NO, that was not supposed to happen. I went back to the dealer again and they said they could not change it because it was working properly. So i called ducati north america again because the dealer does not want to replace them and now he tells me that he looked at an evo a co worker bought and that it has a small hole in the bottom for that. (in short words it was designed like that) I asked him for a link, paper or a place online that will show me and tell me that what he was saying was true because it made no sense to me. The answer was that no, ducati never goes that in detail. I told him; so your just telling it is designed like that just because you think so, which he ignored and just keep on saying it was designed like that.

Not saying anything bad about the guy, he was polite and helpfull in other things but i would like to know if that makes sense to you guys(water in the turn signals). Specially because he has nothing to show to me probing me right or wrong. My brother has a 696 and does not have that problem.

thanks in advance

oem turn signals are supposed to have a hole in the bottom in order to allow accumulated water to pour out.  they make a point of stating that when installing the signals as the hole shows which side is the bottom.  my 796 has the same hole.

not sure how bad your issue is, but if it's not shorting out your lights i dont see what's the prob?

thanks for the reply. My problem is that its a new bike. I work hard for my things and for me it makes no sense that water is near electric part. Th guy just give me a "theory" of what he thinks. He cannot show me or direct me to something that prove me wrong or right. If it is working as expected, well it was crappy from Ducati. If not I want it changed and nit get a run around. I asked him to tell me were I could read that they're suppose to work like that and he does not know. It makes me feel is bs.

Look at your lenses.  There should be a weep hole in the bottom.  Are they up side down?  There should be a weep hole that would explain how the water is getting in.  No weep hole?  Go back to the dealer, look at other monsters and locate the weep hole.  Show this to the dealer.  Or just make your own weep hole.

Have you taken them apart?  I thought there was a rubber seal, if it's ripped or something that could cause a problem.

You could just not leave it in the rain  ;D

Your turn signals are full of air. Air always has some water in it. When the air is cooled, water comes out of it, condensing inside the turn signal. The weep hole is there to let the water out; a container of air with no weep hole would be a bad design. As long as the weep hole is facing down, it shouldn't let much water in from outside, and what does get in should flow out.

I haven't noticed an water in my lenses after washing, it stays in the garage if it's raining so it doesn't seem normal to me. I know how you feel about the new bike and wanting it to be right. I have an air bubble under the decal on my rear seat cowl that I pointed out to the dealer when I took it in for my 600 mile service. Advisor took a photo and sent it off to Ducati and they said they wouldn't replace it at the time because it wasn't visible in the photo. I figure I have another 22 months left on the warranty and when it bothers me enough I can make it more "visible" for them.

damn. Ducati should take in consideration that you and the dealer see it. That's not good service in my book. Specially they should be more flexible if they don't have people to make decisions here on the states. Good luck, I'll post pics next time I clean it.
