where are you located?

Is your tank plastic or metal? If a magnet sticks to it, then it's metal. Or if it's got just the fuel cap and no outer aluminum ring that the fuel cap bolts to, then it's a plastic tank.

I've got a few metal ones for 2000 to pre-plastic tank bikes that I've been lookin to sell...

To keep it short, but give you some details - a 97 tank is for a carb'd bike. Your's is fuel injected. Vacuum fuel pump on the outside vs electric on the inside.

It'd be a ton of hassle to try to get it to work.  And the frame on a 97 was different, so you'd have that issue too
